The Brief

The Arenko Group are a market leader technology provider enabling a transformation to clean energy. Like many other businesses they themselves needed to go through a transformation to allow for more flexible working practices, in addition to this staff numbers were increasing.

However, in order to achieve this, we had to work around their office lighting that was fixed location up lighters and a stripped back concreate ceiling detail.

The Solution

The lighting location in many ways drove the design for the space. First, we established three working zones in the main area and retained the existing meeting rooms. The working zones were split into head down booked desks to work on specific projects, drop in space for collaborative space and a breakout come collaborative space where the staff could gather.

Then we had to design a desk system to allow us to construct it around the fixed uplighters in the main office space. In the booked space area, we needed to add desk screens to give some more privacy so the staff could focus on the task in hand and not be distracted. In both the areas we needed to add desk power to allow for quick power access for laptops and phones.

The breakout/collaborate area had tall tables introduced along with a locker system to allow for the flexibility.

Finally, the existing meeting rooms needed improved acoustic values as the ceiling and glass walls were reflecting a lot of sound.

The Outcome

The design and new furniture allowed for all the clients needs to be achieved, the more collaborative space along with the lockers made for an increase in office numbers and the split between quieter spaces and more collaborative spaces was quickly recognised by the staff themselves.

The acoustical work carried out in the meeting rooms lead to better outcomes on team and zoom meetings with more staff returning to the office to be on them rather than work in isolation.
