The Brief
Brockswood school are a progressive primary school who wanted to upgrade their library area, which was poorly lit and looked very dull and turn it into a more flexible and inspirational space for their children.
The project had to be delivered on time for the new school year and on budget.

The Solution
A bright woodland and countryside theme for the space was agreed on to engage the children.
As with all projects we start with the space allocated by the client, and in this case the area was two rooms that were unattractive and badly lit. So, the first task wase to open the space up and allow as much natural light in as possible, coupled with enhanced LED lighting.
Books were stored around the perimeter walls to allow, and the flooring helped to divide up the space without physical barriers finally non-static furniture was introduced to allow the staff to use the space in a flexible way.
The space was then zoned but in a flexible way to allow for larger groups to work on the plasma screen if needed.
Sizable woodland wall coverings were added to give the impression you were in the countryside and the furniture included toadstools and cut log seats on a grass rug added to this feeling.
Finally, a brightly coloured collection of cube seating was introduced allowing the children to sit or lay with a book.

The Outcome
The space looks bright, open, and inviting, but most of all the kids love it. The space was put to additional use for the breakfast clubs as it offered something for all age ranges at the school.
It has proved to be very flexible which has been a big plus to the school.
